See and hear the PSAs!
As the go-to resource in Indiana for college access information, Learn More Indiana was perfectly positioned to join the national campaign and lead the KnowHow2GoIndiana effort.
KnowHow2GoIndiana, a statewide public service advertising (PSA) campaign, is designed to encourage low-income and first-generation students to take the steps necessary to go to college. KnowHow2GoIndiana is part of a unified PSA effort (KnowHow2GO) led on a national level by the Lumina Foundation for Education, Ad Council, and the American Council on Education.
This multi-media campaign will features television and radio PSAs, outdoor and print advertising, and an interactive Web site that delivers guiding information to students, parents/adults, and organizations. The campaign primarily targets low-income students in grades 8 to 10, and secondarily, their parents and adult influencers, to encourage them to start the college preparation process early.
KnowHow2GO focuses on four creative messages that speak to young people directly to help them understand the steps necessary to go to college. Those steps are: “Be a Pain,” “Push Yourself,” “Find the Right Fit” and “Put Your Hands on Some Cash.”
Individuals who visit the KnowHow2Go Web site will be encouraged to learn more by calling Learn More Indiana’s Helpline (1-800-992-2076).
In addition to the media components of the campaign, KnowHow2GoIndiana will utilize a network of grassroots Learn More Indiana partners to reinforce the campaign in local communities. Learn More Indiana also will be using direct mail strategies to reach out to targeted publics throughout the state.
The campaign will run for approximately two years. The PSAs are being distributed to 28,000 media stations nationwide throughout January. New television and radio advertising, created specifically for the Hispanic community, will be available in upcoming weeks. Per the Ad Council’s model, all of the new PSAs will utilize donated advertising time and space.
Indiana’s Education Roundtable, Lumina Foundation for Education and Learn More Indiana encourage media across Indiana to support this campaign by running the PSAs and print advertisements often in an effort to encourage students and families to start the college preparation process early.
