Going Back to School
Many adults worry about the cost of attending college…especially if they are reducing hours or are not working while attending. Here is information to help plan for the financial realities of going back to school to get an undergraduate degree.
Adults are often concerned about finding time to attend classes and do homework. Preparing in advance is important, and then you need to jump right in.
While exploring colleges and universities, ask admissions representatives and academic advisors about programs and services that are especially designed for adult students.
When applying to college, know the role of test scores, GPA, and essays.
Distance education involves college courses and programs being offered through local TV, Internet, videotape, satellite, computer disks and CD-ROM. It provides a tremendous opportunity for those whose work or family schedules have prevented them from realizing their educational dreams.
The GED program has become a significant means for adults to acquire a high school equivalency diploma. GED Tests cover language arts reading and writing skills, social studies, science, and mathematics.
Everyone needs some sort of education beyond high school. The only question is: which kind? Postsecondary educational opportunities include apprenticeship programs, college (both two-year and four-year programs) and the military.
Transfer credits are course credits that move from one college or university to another.
