Indiana e-Transcript is a new service with lots of benefits. Students gain the convenience of online transcript requesting and tracking; automatic notifications are provided from request through delivery. Schools instantly become more efficient: All requests come in an online to-do list and then transcripts are sent electronically to Indiana colleges and universities with the push of a button.
Indiana e-Transcript is provided as a service to Indiana students and families by ISM Education Loans in partnership with the Indiana Commission for Higher Education and Indiana Department of Education.

What is Indiana e-Transcript?
Indiana e-Transcript is a statewide initiative to give all Indiana secondary and postsecondary schools the ability to electronically process transcripts.
Indiana e-Transcript enables:
- Students and alumni to request their transcripts online;
- High School staff and school counselors to process these requests electronically with no printing, stamping or mailing; and
- Colleges and universities to receive an electronic copy of the student transcript, which can then easily be shared among admissions personnel.
Indiana e-Transcript also provides:
- Transcript requests initiated by a high school on a student’s behalf either when applying to college or when transferring from one participating high school to another;
- College-initiated requests for a student’s initial, entering or final transcript;
- Electronic Secondary School Report, which allows school counselors to complete these reports electronically, including the capability to upload and electronically send other admission documents like letters of recommendation.
Why is Indiana e-Transcript good for Indiana schools and students?
Indiana e-Transcript benefits current students, alumni and all educational institutions statewide because it:
- Is easy for students to use,
- Provides online ordering convenience,
- Tracks transcripts through e-mail notification,
- Guarantees delivery,
- Reduces unnecessary time and effort for counselors, and
- Reduces cost of postage and mailing materials.
By participating in Indiana e-Transcript, Indiana schools save, improve processes and also recoup an estimated $6.70 per paper-based processed transcript. With a statewide average of each student requesting six transcripts, the savings adds up to over $40 per typical college-bound student. Postsecondary institutions will also see a dramatic savings, which is calculated at over $9 per incoming high school transcript*.

Installation and registration
Indiana e-Transcript is simple to install and works with any student information system (SIS). To date the service has been installed with over 50 different types of SIS. A typical installation takes 20 minutes, and a school is ready to use the service after a 45-minute online training session.
“It took us approximately 15 minutes to download and install the software, and after a 45-minute training session, we were done implementing and ready to use the service,” said Meredith Bovin, Data Manager from Carmel Clay Schools. “The installation, training and implementation processes were extremely simple and straight-forward. The entire procedure truly was as easy as advertised.”
School corporations first register to participate by entering their corporation ID into an online form.
Once registration is complete, installation and training instructions are sent via e-mail. Participating high schools will need to download and install Docufide’s Secure Transcript software onto the transcript administrator’s computer -- it’s like loading a driver for a new printer -- to allow non-intrusive and secure access to the transcript data.

Case Study
In January of 2007, Docufide interviewed staff and school counselors at 11 high schools that have widely adopted Indiana e-Transcript.
The experiences of four of these schools were written up as case studies.
Also available in the document are the names and contact information for users willing to discuss their experiences with other educators in Indiana.
